Shooting is the governing body for the sport of target shooting in Scotland,
bringing together Scotland’s individual associations to support development of
the sport at grassroots level and performance on the international stage as
well as to discuss other matters which affect all of the shooting disciplines.

By uniting under
the umbrella of Scottish Target Shooting, these associations are able to plan
the development of the sport together, ensuring resources are distributed where
they are needed most. It will also ensure a clear and consistent pathway for
athletes, coaches and officials can be developed, catering for all disciplines under
the remit of the governing body.
As a single body
the sport is also better placed to enter into discussions with various local,
national and international agencies. For example, committee members from Scottish
Target Shooting are working closely with sportscotland and the Scottish
Government to ensure the sport will secure a lasting legacy from the Glasgow 2014
Commonwealth Games that will benefit all disciplines and levels of performance for
many years to come.
a performance level, the governing body works to support athletes with
potential to compete at the Commonwealth Games and is responsible for selecting
teams to compete at the Commonwealth Championships and nominating athletes to
the Commonwealth Games Council for Scotland for participation in the Commonwealth
Youth Games and the Commonwealth Games.
Shooting partners include the Commonwealth Games Council for Scotland,
sportscotland, Local Authorities, Government Agencies and UK National Shooting
Bodies such as British Shooting (formerly GBTSF), British International Clay
Target Shooting Federation, Muzzle Loaders Association of Great Britain,
National Rifle Association and National Small-bore Rifle Association.
